Marcos

I am outside as I type this. A little chilly with the wind, but its sunny and lovely. Although, with the day that I had, I am surprised its not raining and muddy. But anyways this past weekend was just lovely. We (me, megan, trent and his family- mom, sister, aunt, and 2 cousins) went to Berlin. AHH BERLIN. for some reason I need to say that every single time. It was pretty neat, I didn't really realize how much history and graffiti is really there. I can't help but to think that we had missed a lot of the really exciting things the day and a half we were there. I will admit that we didn't go into any museums, to be quite honest, I am currently over historical museums.

We worked late on Friday night, we reserved our seats for a Saturday morning train but nothing to early (atleast for meg and myself). We got into Berliner around 2-ish. Our hostel was VERY nice, more like a hotel ("baxpax downtown" sounds lame, but was amazing). Clean, safe, modern., lovely. We headed down to Checkpoint Charlie, a tourist attraction and the meeting spot of us and trent's clan. Checkpoint Charlie was a place to register and inform the Western Military Forces before entering East Berlin. They were only allowed to cross the border from West to East, using one of these three checkpoints. The US opened this checkpoint in '61 that we visited. A lot of this Hitler, holocaust, war stuff is crazy to me when I think that it really didn't happen that long ago. Anyways, you could get your passport stamped, I did, but I didn't get a date on mine, so that kind of stinks. Oh well, the guy was charming, none-the-less. From there we headed to a section of the wall that still stands, that was pretty weird because its like in the middle of the city... Anyways from there we headed to "hitler's bunker" where he apparently killed himself. Boring... now an apartment building. Then we went to the Jewish Holocaust Memorial. That was odd and amazing and eerie but beautiful. There were 2711 gray blocks representing the 6 million murdered European jews during the holocaust. Right next to it was the Brandenburg Gate. In 1989, when the Berlin walled collapsed, the Gate symbolized freedom and the desire to unify Berlin, reopening when the West german chancellor walked through, to be greeted by the East German chancellor (I got that from wikipedia). From there we went to the Parliament building, you are able to go inside and to the glass dome roof to see the city, but we didnt :( because they didnt want to walk / wait anymore. So we headed to some museums, didnt go into any, thank geez. Ate and amazing omlet. Headed back to the hostel, got settled, met back up with trent and headed to the hostel bar. English kareoke in Germany is interesting and funny.

In the morning, meg and i headed to starbucks :) only the second time ive gotten coffee from there since ive been here. We eventually figured out the public transportation and headed to the East Side Gallery. It was amazing. The wall, covered in art and impressions and representations. Absolutely amazing. After that, we headed back to the strech of museums, there were markets lining a few of the streets. It was pretty great, I bought a pair of silver earrings and a painting. We didnt have much time, but we had enough, so we wandered around for a few hours before heading to the train station. It would have been nice to go on a tour or something, but oh well...

I ended up buying the entire Twilight series at the train station, a good 30 euro treat to myself. Atleast I am reading, but i have just becomed obsessed with it. Ughh.
Phil is coming tomorrow, but he will be here on Thursday, so maybe that will help with this stress and anxiety. Majority of the time, he keeps me grounded. We plan to leave for Prague on Thursday night and spend all weekend there, getting back to Wiesbaden on Sunday night. I can't wait to not work for a long weekend.

This week has been rough so far. Especially today. I ended up having to run out of the classroom. Those kids STRESSED ME OUTTTT. I feel like there is a lot of pressure while in that classroom, but being an intern, I dont necessarily feel like I should ahve this much pressure. it is kind of nice because I am more than an intern to them, but it is hard when I know that i am not getting paid for it... hopefully tomorrow is better....

I think I need to go to bed early tonight... The moon is finally out and this took longer than expected to type.
i miss you all. i cant believe it is week 12! eek! im not ready to leaveeeeeeeeeeee...
One of the training managers did tell me that they are going to be hiring here in December... :)
Just keeping my options open....
